NAKED SOUL was established in Oakland, California in August 2000. The group is comprised of bass, drums and guitars giving front woman, Colette Washington, a solid foundation from which to bare her 'naked soul' vocally. Their original music is best described as "alternative rock/soul" with passion and dynamics! The band is quickly gaining momentum, leaving audiences wanting for more of the NAKED SOUL original music experience.

COLETTE WASHINGTON - Lead Vocals
A native of Humboldt County, and now proud resident of Oakland, Colette Washington's voice is "the real thing!" She's been captivating audiences throughout Northern California, and is inspired by Annie Lennox, Chris Robinson, Gladys Knight and Me shell Ndgéocello. A music business graduate from the Seattle Art Institute, Washington is a true entrepreneur who writes thought-provoking lyrics to showcase her powerhouse vocals. In addition to helping herself [to success], she founded MyOwnMusic.net to share resources with other indie artists. Music, meditation and exercise feed her naked soul.

AL HAYES - Guitars
Homegrown in Oakland, Al Hayes is a faithful and generous friend. He's a passionate left-handed guitarist with an extensive repertoire of original compositions. Al has been performing and composing music professionally for more than a decade. His key influences are Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Alan Holdsworth and Vernon Reid. When he's not playing music, Al is enjoys family, hot tubs and working with glass. He also makes a mean pecan praline.

"BIGG" NATE PAYMER - Drums
Nate started beating on tables and kicking the backs of chairs at an early age while growing up near Berkeley, California. When he started playing drums 9 years ago, his affinity for hitting things evolved from an annoyance into a much louder annoyance. Now a resident of sunny Sunnyvale, Nate plays with the Foothill College Afternoon Jazz Ensemble and various jazz combos. His style walks the line between rock and jazz, with influences including Steve Gadd, Mitch Mitchell, Tim Carter, and Frank French. When he's not playing drums, Nate spends time writing computer software, playing ultimate, foosball, and the nose flute.

MICHAEL KERR - Bass
Michael Kerr is a professional bassist and acoustics/audio engineer who creatively blends his love of art with technology. Michael plays fretted and fretless electric bass, upright bass and keyboards. Growing up in a small town near Baltimore, Michael always had a deep interest in music. His biggest influences are Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones and Chris Squire. His musical education includes University of Miami, University of Maryland and The American University. He also studied at the Bass Collective with renowned bassist, John Patitucci. When he's not making music, Michael enjoys making cross country trips on his motorcycle.
